Returning to Sogetsu Kaikan designed by Isamu Noguchi for the third season, AMBUSH® displays its AUTUMN-WINTER
2022 collection among the plaza’s granite surfaces, stone sculptures, and trickling water features. The AW22
collection bridges elements of urban subcultures with a spirit of rebellious exploration, a sophisticated take
on the brand’s archetypal characters. Here, the Sogetsu Kaikan, entitled Heaven (Tengoku), is a conduit of new
meaning for the collection, removing the characters from the otherworldly desert of the AW22 runway show in
Milan to the tranquil Japanese stone garden.
The setting brings the clothes into a different context, where for the first time, the AMBUSH® boy and girl
are removed from their element and transported somewhere new. The subtlety of the indoor garden contrasts with
the bold shapes from the collection, where silver studs are hammered into black leather for a fetishist finish
mixed with elongated silhouettes for coats, dresses, and platform shoes. Other garments, threaded with strings
of intricate beads or sculpted from shearling and natural leather, sing among the carved rock formations and
spiral sculptures. Jewelry is elegant and unassuming among the granite surfaces, glistening with the nearby
pools of water.
The AMBUSH® WKSP collection is at home in the garden, clashing only in color as the vibrant greens and oranges
of the collection hang in situ against the neutral tones of wood, stone, and ceramic. Hiking boots and other
outdoor gears are in harmony with the nature-inspired location. Meshing tradition with technology, the
exhibition also displays the AMBUSH® SILVER FCTRY, the brand’s metaverse experience, bringing the AMBUSH®
ethos of innovation full circle.
