THE DIVERSE SYMBOLISMS OF THE MASK

BACK TO HOMEPAGE

We are living in a changed world. Now near ubiquitous, the mask is a sign of our times and also our conscience/beliefs. Figuratively, people have been wearing masks for centuries - nerves can be masked as stoic confidence, jealousy masked as kinship. Human basics. Now, a fraction of our truths remain through our eyes. Yet the physical mask is a visible indicator of how far we have come and succeeds other means such as amulets, flagellating or digesting crushed emeralds as a protective guard. It’s an enviable accessory — one that has found a new relevance in society, emerging as a style necessity for the unforeseen, coming times.
